Introduces students to early literary theory. We will discuss major developments in the theory and practice of literary representation, from antiquity to romanticism; students will learn the meanings and implications of historically foundational critical terms and debates. Course credit exclusion: AP/EN 2000 6.00.

No examinations or tests collectively worth more than 20% of the final grade in a course will be given during the final 14 calendar days of classes in a term.
