Examines three Shakespearean plays (Othello, King Lear and The Tempest) and eight contemporary counterplays - dramatic texts which interrogate the originals from the various perspectives of race, gender, sexuality, class and politics. Course credit exclusion: AP/EN 4143 6.00.
