A study of the processes of energy and moisture exchanges in polar regions with emphasis on the Canadian north. Topics include atmospheric and oceanic transport of energy, surface microclimate and the sensitivity of high latitude environments to climate change. Normally offered in alternate years. Three lecture hours. One term. Prerequisites: 54 credits successfully completed, including AP/SC/GEOG 2400 6.00 or written permission of the course director. Course credit exclusions: None. PRIOR TO FALL 2009: Prerequisites: 54 credits successfully completed, including AS/SC/GEOG 2400 6.00 or written permission of the course director. Course credit exclusion: AS/GEOG 4205 3.00.
