Examines, first, the origins and historical development of neoliberalism as a political ideology of municipal governments, and second, the impacts of the implementation of neoliberal policies on social/political/cultural relations in contemporary cities. Students will also analyze theoretical and political debates surrounding neoliberal urbanism as these debates have unfolded in various cities of the world, including controversies about what constitutes justice and democracy under neoliberal urban policy implementation.

No examinations or tests collectively worth more than 20% of the final grade in a course will be given during the final 14 calendar days of classes in a term.
