This course analyzes the relations between popular media, communication technologies and power. The role of the state, market and civil society in the development of communication systems, and the production and distribution of culture are examined, with special attention paid to Canada. Prerequisite: AP/COMN 1000 6.00. Course credit exclusion: AP/COMN 2313 6.00 (prior to Fall 2012).

No examinations or tests collectively worth more than 20% of the final grade in a course will be given during the final 14 calendar days of classes in a term.
