Explores the relationship between contemporary forms of mediated communication and democratic public life. It examines issues such as freedom of expression and the regulation of communication and culture in the context of both dominant and alternative media practices. Prerequisite: AP/COMN 1000 6.00. Course credit exclusion: AP/COMN 4314 6.00 (prior to Fall 2012).

No examinations or tests collectively worth more than 20% of the final grade in a course will be given during the final 14 calendar days of classes in a term.
