This course examines the construction of gender - both femininity and masculinity - and sexuality in popular culture with a consideration of how social, political and historical forces influence media practices as well as audience consumption preferences. Note: Students will need access to the Internet for web-based research. Course credit exclusions: GL/GWST 2511 6.00, AP/GL/WMST 1510 6.00 (prior to Fall 2013).
