This course surveys the history of the British Empire from 1600 to the present, from the founding of the East India Company, to dominant world power, to decolonization and independence, to imperial nostalgia.

No examinations or tests collectively worth more than 20% of the final grade in a course will be given during the final 14 calendar days of classes in a term.
