Explores the complex interplay of political, social and cultural forces at work in Africa' communities, nations and regions. Of particular interest is the often ignored capacity of African culture to generate change and solve the problems of development.

No examinations or tests collectively worth more than 20% of the final grade in a course will be given during the final 14 calendar days of classes in a term.
