A specially-designed course for students of Hispanic heritage with no formal Spanish-language training. This course involves a comprehensive study of grammar and vocabulary, as well as assignments on aspects of Hispanic culture, in order for heritage learners to strengthen their oral fluency and to develop academic Spanish-language skills that will enable them to identify, select from, and appropriately deploy a variety of spoken and written registers and expand their ability to communicate in informal and formal, colloquial and academic settings. Prerequisite: Heritage knowledge of Spanish. Placement into this course is determined by a departmental placement questionnaire. Course credit exclusions: AP/SP 2000 6.00, AP/SP 2020 6.00, AP/SP 2050 6.00, GL/SP 1520 6.00.

No examinations or tests collectively worth more than 20% of the final grade in a course will be given during the final 14 calendar days of classes in a term.
