This course analyzes the history of Ottoman influence on the European regions of the Ottoman Empire and explores the impact of Ottomans on European histories, economies and societies in the Balkans and the Eastern Mediterranean. We will look at the interactions between Ottomans and Europeans and the lasting legacies of Ottoman rule on commerce, religion, architecture, food and music.
