The course considers the ghost story's tenacious hold on the Victorian popular imagination despite the period's empirical philosophy, growing medical, scientific, and technological knowledge, and devotion to industrialism. Course credit exclusions: None. PRIOR TO FALL 2009: Course credit exclusion: AS/EN 4256 3.00.
