An analysis of the role of ideas in the development of social institutions and the impact of society on belief systems. The social organization of knowledge will be examined with reference to selected institutional areas such as science, politics, education, religion, the arts and the professions. Prerequisite: Students must have successfully completed 84 credits. Course credit exclusions: None. PRIOR TO FALL 2009: Prerequisite: Students must have successfully completed 84 credits. However, third-year Honours students with 78 completed credits who are also taking summer courses may enrol. Course credit exclusion: AS/SOCI 4910 6.00.

No examinations or tests collectively worth more than 20% of the final grade in a course will be given during the final 14 calendar days of classes in a term.
