This DEM course is a pre-requisite for the DEM Master's degree. Applicants who meet the admission requirements but do not have sufficient background in disaster and emergency management or have not taken relevant academic courses in disaster and emergency management are admitted to the program conditional to the passing of an introductory Disaster & Emergency Management course run by our program. This is an online course that is offered through the Faculty of Liberal Arts and Professional Studies. The course is normally offered between June to August. Students should obtain at least a B- (70%) to pass this course. Applicants who cannot meet this requirement will not be admitted to the program.

Students are also encouraged to review the Student Guide to eLearning at York University.

Moodle course website access starts within the first week of the term. For late enrollees it takes two business days from the time of your enrolment to access the Moodle websites once the semester has started. Course materials begin to be released on the course website during the first week of the semester. Get familiar with Moodle by reviewing the Moodle Student Resources Page.
