This course examines the conflicts and contradictions of American politics, culture, and society since the end of World War II. Through popular culture, journalism and political sources, we explore how social movements like civil rights, feminism, and the religious right changed the United States and probe the relationship between America's global military and economic power and ordinary people's lives. This course is open to students who have successfully completed 24 credits.
