An introduction to the study of the development of language systems through time, including the principles of genetic classification of languages, comparative grammar and internal reconstruction. Prerequisites: AP/LING 1000 6.00, or permission of the department. (prior to Fall 2015 AP/LING 2120 3.00, or permission of the department.)

No examinations or tests collectively worth more than 20% of the final grade in a course will be given during the final 14 calendar days of classes in a term.
