This course introduces current issues related to health and equity from a critical human rights perspective. It examines the interrelationship of health, disease, and socio-economic structures, and includes scholarly research about medical practices, health institutions in Canada and globally, and the social determinants of health. Students learn about the history of health and health care using major theoretical approaches. Note: Approved SOSC General Education course for AP. This course will not count for major credit in HREQ.

Course Websites hosted on York's "eClass" are accessible to students during the first week of the term. It takes two business days from the time of your enrolment to access your course website. No examinations or tests collectively worth more than 20% of the final grade in a course will be given during the final 14 calendar days of classes in a term.
