Calendar Description / Prerequisite / Co-Requisite

Anishinaabemowin is based on a worldview that everything is alive; it is a descriptive language which describes things in terms of their relationship with the universe. For that reason, the cultural matrix in which the language is embedded must be part of the learning process. A range of texts will be supplied or recommended for students to acquire background information; while in class, students will learn pronunciation, basic phrases through role-playing games, as well as certain skills, such as counting, short sentences, and an introduction to the Ojibwe grammar structure. Course Credit exclusions: GL/LIN/CNDS/HUMA/SOSC 2636 3.00 (EN) (F) ; GL/LIN/CNDS/HUMA/SOSC 2638 3.00 (EN) (W); AP/INDG 1070 6.00
