This course is an introductory one for students interested in emergencies and disasters. It overviews the history of disasters, examines their causes, and analyzes their impacts. A series of case studies will be used to illustrate how nature, the built environment and society interact to create them. The course is lecture based but will use media where possible to illustrate the concepts discussed in class. Cross-Listing: DEMS 1701 3.00


Course Start Up

Course Websites hosted on York's "eClass" are accessible to students during the first week of the term. It takes two business days from the time of your enrolment to access your course website.
