This language course focuses on advanced techniques of oral communication, and the mastery of listening comprehension and speaking skills. Students will learn to understand controversial issues, participate in discussions (online format in the BLEN section), moderate debates in real time, and construct valid arguments to support a point of view. A blended version of this course to be offered on a regular basis. Prerequisite: AP/FR 2082 3.00Course credit exclusions: AP/FR 3089 6.00

Your objective in this course will be to expand and master the skills studied in earlier French courses, while developing your critical reasoning abilities through the study of some important issues in the Francophone world. You will have the occasion to learn techniques of argumentation to express a point of view, convince and persuade by using a variety of communication tools based on different models (interview for media or work, round table, debate, etc.). Your aim will be to organize with your classmates a discussion on a current and controversial topic relative to the Francophonie.
Prerequisite course: AP/FR 2082 3.0 with a minimum grade of C

By the end of the course, students will be able to:
- Express arguments relative to a variety of socio-cultural themes
- Clearly articulate your ideas in order to express your opinion, convince and persuade
- Better understand the French spoken by a variety of Francophone speakers
- Pronounce and articulate clearly so as to be understood without difficulty
- Produce complex phrases that are grammatically correct and follow the rules of agreement
- Use all moods and tenses necessary for the purposes of argumentation
- Develop a rich and precise vocabulary necessary for critical reflection
- Conduct research on the various Francophone communities of the world

No examinations or tests collectively worth more than 20% of the final grade in a course will be given during the final 14 calendar days of classes in a term.
