This course explores the importance of biographical and autobiographical writing in the ancient Mediterranean among Greeks, Romans, and minority populations, focusing less on the subjects of each life and more on literary, ethnic, social, cultural (including religious) and political contexts and purposes (ca. 323 BCE-313 CE).
