This course studies issues in the Middle East from a critical human rights perspective, focusing on countries like Afghanistan, Iran, Iraq, Palestine, Saudi Arabia, Yemen, and Syria. Legacies of religion, colonialism, and militarism are examined, along with current regional struggles within the global context of state (re)building, migration, reconciliation, and peace processes. Prerequisites: 24 credits.


Course Start Up

Course Websites hosted on York's "eClass" are accessible to students during the first week of the term. It takes two business days from the time of your enrolment to access your course website.
