This course explores how language is used in digital spaces to bring about social impact and change. The course themes focus on digital literacies, genres and persuasive strategies of digital communication, and socio-cultural and socio-political aspects of digital communication. The course engages students for active application of academic and digital literacies to re-envision social realities in their local communities.Prerequisites: 6.0 credits from any 1000 level ESL Courses (ESL 1000 6.0, or ESL1200 6.0, or ESL1450 6.0, or ESL1010 3.0 and ESL1015 3.0), OR permission of coordinatorOpen to: Undergraduate students from an ESL background Not open to: Undergraduate students who speak English with native proficiency


Course Start Up

Course Websites hosted on York's "eClass" are accessible to students during the first week of the term. It takes two business days from the time of your enrolment to access your course website.
