This course examines the English language and multilingualism in the current global context, focusing on how bi/multilingual individuals from diverse linguistic and cultural backgrounds bring different languages into writing and communication. Exploring a range of fiction, nonfiction and interdisciplinary scholarship in translingual literature, students will develop awareness of rhetorical conventions and learn strategies for communication across a range of contexts.Prerequisites: AP/ESL 1000 or AP/ESL 1450, AP/ESL 2000, AP/ESL 1010 or AP/ESL 1015, or permission of coordinatorOpen to: undergraduate students whose first language is not English Not open to: students who speak English with native proficiency


Course Start Up

Course Websites hosted on York's "eClass" are accessible to students during the first week of the term. It takes two business days from the time of your enrolment to access your course website.
