Calendar Description / Prerequisite / Co-Requisite

This course surveys the evolution of Canadian political thought in general as well as the broader intellectual contributions made by Canadian thinkers to debates related to justice, democracy, federalism, and cultural tolerance. Possible topics to be covered include the dialectic between tory and republican intellectual sources in Canada, the development of dominant ideologies in Canada, regional variations in thought, and the more recent debates regarding aboriginal self-government and cultural diversity and inclusion. Course credit exclusions: None.


Course Start Up

Course Websites hosted on York's "eClass" are accessible to students during the first week of the term. It takes two business days from the time of your enrolment to access your course website.
