Course explores ways in which the discipline of linguistics can shed light on the use of language in the legal system. Topics include the special characteristics of written legal language, spoken language in the courtroom and linguists as expert witnesses.

No examinations or tests collectively worth more than 20% of the final grade in a course will be given during the final 14 calendar days of classes in a term.
