For the first time in history, more than half the world's population lives in urban areas. How has this happened? What's going on in these cities? What do cities in different parts of the world have in common? How can we think about cities in ways that encompass the variation and particularity of cities and their cultures? Open to: All first-year students. This course is a required course for Urban Studies majors.

- 20% Rule
No examinations or tests collectively worth more than 20% of the final grade in a course will be given during the final 14 calendar days of classes in a term.
